Kurt Beattie

Kurt Beattie, playwright, director, and actor, makes his MOR debut as the narrator in Schoenfield's Ghetto Songs. Artistic director of ACT since 2003, his most recent director credits for the company include Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman, Elizabeth Heffron's Mitzi's Abortion and Steve Martin's The Underpants (2006), along with Things Being What They Are for the Seattle Repertory Theatre (2003). With an acting career that has spanned three decades, in Seattle and across the country, Beattie can list favorite roles such as Jack Tanner in Man and Superman and Vladimir in Waiting for Godot (Intiman); Lermontov in Maydays, Givola in Arturo Ui, and Scrooge in A Christmas Carol (ACT); Kaspar in Kaspar (Empty Space); Malvolio in Twelfth Night (Repertory Theatre of St. Louis); Lucio in Measure for Measure (Empty Space); and the title role in King Lear (Seattle Shakespeare Company).
