MOR's popular outreach series concludes this season with a double-bill from Seattle native Daniel Asia and New Yorker Steve Reich. Asia’s song cycle "Breath in a Ram’s Horn" draws on the poetry of Paul Pines, fueled by his troubled relationship with his parents. Reich’s landmark "Different Trains" juxtaposes sounds of the American trains he rode as a child with images of German trains transporting people to death camps. MOR's Artistic Director Mina Miller discusses how these two contemporary American composers approach Jewish identity and memory in their work.
