Leyna Kitahama


Leyna started cello studies at the age of 8 at the conservatoire Claude-Debussy in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France with Claire Oppert. During that time, Leyna was given numerous opportunities to perform at concerts, musical festivals, master classes, and nursing homes. She moved to the United States in 2019 and is currently a student of Walter Gray (Seattle Symphony). She was selected as one of the concerto division honorees for the 2021 Seattle Young Artist Music Festival.

Leyna enjoys playing chamber music with friends. Outside of music, Leyna enjoys kendo (Japanese martial art) and tennis.
