Takumi Taguchi


Takumi Taguchi, violin, is well known to MOR from his frequent performances on the MOR stage since receiving our David Tonkonogui Memorial Award in 2013. He is now in his second year at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Takumi’s teachers have included Shmuel Ashkenasi, the late Aaron Rosand, Midori, and Simon James. Takumi has won the Seattle Symphony Young Artist Award, the KING-FM/Seattle Chamber Music Society Young Artist Award, and the Vancouver International Music Competition. Additionally, he has participated in the Starling-DeLay Violin Symposium at the Juilliard School and the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition. As a concerto soloist, he has appeared with the Seattle Symphony and other orchestras. In recent summers, he has attended the Meadowmount School of Music, the Summit Music Festival and the Music Academy of the West, where he worked intensively with members of the Takacs and Tokyo String Quartets.
